Walk to School Day and Ronald McDonald Visit
Published by Kristie Motz on October 8, 2017

Walk to school day was  held on Friday October 6  and it was a very inspirational way of celebrating health, and school spirit. Our Mayor Mr. Robertson joined  Ashley Elementary School and walked with the students which made the event even better! International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation – each October.  On Thursday October 5 Ronald McDonald’s visit was a great success and put smiles on the students and teachers faces. This show includes many important topics, plus it is loaded with fun and laughs too!

Yellow sticky note hanging on bulletin board that reads Stop Wasting Food!Does the disaster in Texas by Hurricane Harvey make you feel a little more grateful for the things you have? Let’s always be mindful not to be wasteful. Reduce your food waste by planning a weekly menu, making a grocery list, or freezing extra food. This could save you big money each year! Post Let’s Talk Trash to inform students and staff about food loss and waste. Learn tips on how to Plan Your Weekly Meals and check out the USDA’s FoodKeeper App to alert you to use food items before they are likely to spoil.
